We are a dog friendly campervan hire company who positively encourage you to bring your pooch with you on your campervan holiday in Murdo VW Camper. This was following the fantastic response we received from you on our Facebook page when we asked the question if you would like to hire a “Dog friendly Campervan” to tour around Scotland .
We welcome up to two well behaved dogs in our campervan (depending on the size of your canine friends – please check with us first). We charge an extra £30 per hire. We just have a few household rules, and ask that you transport your dog in either a crate or by using our dog seat belt. Please NEVER leave your DOG ALONE in the campervan (your dog can get overheated and may get distressed whilst you are away). Bring plenty of clean dog blankets with you to protect the campervan’s upholstery from sharp claws and muddy paws. Don’t forget the poo bags!
It’s a good idea to bring a favourite cuddly toy and don’t forget your dog’s bed and food to make your dog feel more at home. You can hire our awning which is a great place for your dog to sleep at night and to stretch their legs, whilst still being confined and near you. Their food/water bowls can be popped in their too. You’ll need your dog’s collar and lead for “walkies!” Pop a couple of towels in your doggie’s suitcase too so they can be dried off after their adventure on the beach or swimming in the loch. Dogs just love to get wet!
Have plenty of stop off comfort breaks for your yourself and your dog. Pack a water bowl and some bottled water for your dog too, because it’s good to keep all passengers hydrated, and don’t forget the dog treats for the journey! Leave in plenty of time as it will take you a little longer to get to your destination with driving that bit slower.
The beauty of campervan hire in Scotland is because you can stop off wherever you fancy. There are miles and miles of coastal, river and woodland walkies to enjoy in Scotland. For refreshment there are many fantastic dog friendly pubs and restaurants. You can wild camp with your furry best pal or choose a dog friendly campsite. As we are members of the Camping and Caravanning Club, you will receive a discount of up to 20% on their dog friendly campsites.
We all love taking our dogs on holiday, especially in Scotland. There are an abundance of walks in the hills and mountains, and bagging that Munro for the adventurous dog.
Tip – You and your dog have the right to walk almost anywhere in Scotland, so long as you stick to the
Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Make sure you have a read before you and your pup head out.
Who can resist taking a paddle in the crisp turquoise waters on a beach and playing with a frisbee or their favourite ball with the family. Dogs love watersports too, or a tranquil paddle along the river.
Swimming is another dog’s passion and Scotland has an abundance of lochs and rivers to explore. There are over 30,000 lochs around Scotland. The Trosachs is a fantastic playground. Check out this fantastic blog from Bishopton Dog Walking Services.
Dogs just love forests and woodlands in Scotland. Head out and explore forest trails and nature woodland walks. There are fabulous walks over Rothiemurchus in the Cairngorms National Park with great cycle tracks too, and Galloway Forest Park in Dumfries & Galloway, with the Mar Lodge Estate just up the road from us beyond Braemar, there are hundreds of beautiful forests and woodlands across Scotland that are just waiting to be explored with you and your canine friends.
