We are a dog friendly campervan hire company who positively encourage you to bring your pooch with you on your campervan holiday in Murdo VW Camper! This was following the large amounts of enquiries we received, together with the fantastic response from a poll on our Facebook page.
We welcome up to two well behaved dogs in our dog friendly campervan (depending on the size of your canine friends – please check with us first) and the charge is an extra £30 per hire. There are just a few household rules that we ask please; That you transport your dog in either a crate or by using our dog seat belt and that you NEVER leave your DOG ALONE in the campervan (because your dog can get overheated and may get distressed whilst you are away). It’s lovely for your dog to feel cosy and comfortable, so remember to take plenty of clean dog blankets with you because they will protect the campervan’s upholstery from sharp claws and muddy paws too. Don’t forget the poo bags!
It’s a good idea to bring a favourite cuddly toy and don’t forget your dog’s bed and food because this will make your dog feel more at home. You can hire our awning which is a great place for your dog to sleep at night and to stretch their legs, whilst still being confined and near you, not to mention also having their food/water bowls for their comfort. Pop a couple of towels in your doggie’s suitcase too so they can be dried off after their adventure on the beach or swimming in the loch. Basically, dogs just love getting wet! Also, you’ll need your dog’s collar and lead for “walkies!
You will need to have plenty of stop off comfort breaks for your yourself and your dog. Pack a water bowl and some bottled water for your dog too, because it’s good to keep all passengers hydrated, and don’t forget the dog treats for the journey! Remember to leave in plenty of time considering it will take you a little longer to arrive at your destination with driving that bit slower.
The beauty of campervan hire in Scotland is because you can stop off wherever you fancy. There are miles and miles of coastal, river and woodland walkies to enjoy in Scotland. For refreshment there are many fantastic dog friendly pubs and restaurants. You can wild camp with your furry best pal or choose a dog friendly campsite. As we are members of the Camping and Caravanning Club, you will receive a discount of up to 20% on their dog friendly campsites.
We all love taking our dogs on holiday, especially in Scotland. There are an abundance of walks in the hills and mountains, and bagging that Munro for the adventurous dog.
Tip – You and your dog have the right to walk almost anywhere in Scotland, so long as you stick to the
Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Make sure you have a read before you and your pup head out.
Who can resist taking a paddle in the crisp turquoise waters on a beach and playing with a frisbee or their favourite ball with the family. Dogs love watersports too, or a tranquil paddle along the river.
Swimming is another dog’s passion and Scotland has an abundance of lochs and rivers to explore. There are over 30,000 lochs around Scotland. The Trosachs is a fantastic playground. Check out this fantastic blog from Bishopton Dog Walking Services.
Dogs just love forests and woodlands in Scotland. Head out and explore forest trails and nature woodland walks. There are fabulous walks over Rothiemurchus in the Cairngorms National Park with great cycle tracks too, and Galloway Forest Park in Dumfries & Galloway, with the Mar Lodge Estate just up the road from us beyond Braemar, there are hundreds of beautiful forests and woodlands across Scotland that are just waiting to be explored with you and your canine friends.
