Ballater – possible overnight stop at Ballater Campsite ballatercaravanpark.com/
Braemar – haunted Braemar Castle
Possible overnight at Braemar braemarcaravansite.co.uk, or rough camp at Linn of Dee.
Drive over the Linn of Dee bridge and follow the road back downstream along the River Dee for several miles to where the road ends!
Head back the same way to Crathie, visit Balmoral Castle and Lochnagar Distillery
From Crathie take the B976 road Gairnsheil Lodge and on to Tomintoul. ( Nice old fire station café)
The Cairngorms
Head towards Aviemore on A939 from Tomintoul – after approx. 7 miles look out for the junction on the left signposted ‘Lazy Duck Hostel.’
Take the ‘Lazy Duck’ road through Nethy Bridge, then B970 to Coylumbridge.
Turn left at Coylumbridge and head towards the Cairngorm ski centre and Glenmore Caravan and Camping Site. This is one of the best campsites and a great place to spend a few days. Lots to do, Loch Morlich (highest beach in Scotland), cycling, husky trail, sailing kayaking, canoeing, funicular railway.
Aviemore is just a short drive away with lots of shops, swimming pool, steam train, osprey watching.
Take the B970 to Kingussie and Highland Wildlife Park and the A86 towards Loch Laggan.
Carry on to Spean Bridge and A82 to Fort William and Glen Nevis Camp site. This too is a brilliant campsite and a great base for a few days.
Loads to see and do – Jacobite steam railway to Mallaig (whole day) awesome trip! Walk up Glen Nevis or the Ben itself!
Back up to A82 to Loch Lochy and Fort Augustus follow Loch Ness to Drumnadrochit and Urquhart Castle and on to Inverness.
There is a Campsite at Lower Foyers halfway between Fort Augustus and Culloden. Again lots to see and do, Battle of Culloden and visitors centre.
Moray Coast
Follow the A96 to Forres and B9011 to Findhorn.
Camping in Findhorn at Findhorn Holiday Park
Camping in Forres at The Old Mill in Brodie
To return consider returning through Forres and A940 to A939 to Grantown on Spey and home via Tomintoul, the Lecht to A93 and Balloter.
Take the B9119 on the left just after the Cambus o May bridge.
Take this to the Burn o Vat. It has a short walk into the ‘vat’ and back and well worth a look.
From the Burn O Vat, continue on B9119 to Tarland where there is a Camping and Caravan Club site – useful overnight stay prior to return to Deeside Classic Campers.
