(1) Feel Free!

Driving one of our modern campervans gives you the freedom to tour around Scotland wherever you please. Unlike a motorhome, our campervans are the perfect size to navigate those single track roads which take up the ultimate road trip in Scotland, the North Coast 500, or being able to enjoy more remote places.

You can chase the good weather. You don’t have to camp on a campsite. If you are feeling a little adventurous, go wild camping instead! Pick that perfect camping pitch overlooking that perfect scenery. If you like your home comforts our T6 modern campers have everything you need, including a fantastic heating system, and is home from home on wheels. See our “Campers” page for more details.

A campsite can be a great base; for meeting new friends, having electric hook up to keep your leisure battery topped up for power, and of course a hot shower! Stop off wherever takes your fancy for that brew-up, get the bacon butties on the go, sit outside on your deck chair and enjoy the scenery. It doesn’t get much better than that! A campervan hire holiday in Scotland is all about the journey and experience from start to finish. The best part is, the choice is yours!

There is no mileage stipulation unlike other campervan hire companies, giving you more places to explore.

We are not short of beautiful scenery in Scotland, whether it is coastal, heather clad mountains, lochs or rivers, Scotland has something to offer for everyone. Hillgoers’ mountain leaders offer expertly guided walks across numerous Munros, Corbetts and other smaller, yet nonetheless impressive, hills for either a single day out, or you can extend your adventure by camping out under the stars in one of our modern T6 VW cosy campervans.

Try something new … Cycling is great for families or whatever your ability. You can hire one of our mountain bikes or take your own, with one of our bike racks and explore the lovely family friendly cycle trails , getting back to nature on two wheels. You can choose your own route or have a guide to show you beautiful routes, or the thrills and spills of mountain biking, water sports, kayaking in gorgeous clear water, and learning to windsurf with Wilderness Scotland. If you decide to find that perfect wild camping pitch, please remember to tidy up after yourself and leave no trace.

(5) Go with Friends

We have been delighted to have welcomed camper guests from all over the world! It was great to meet these guys from Denmark. Can’t all fit into one camper? …. just take two! We offer a collection service from either Aberdeen Airport or Train Station at a great discount. You can hire a selection of optional extras to make your trip even easier, with bedding packs (including towels), mountain bikes, bike rack, an airframe awning, child car seats, and a lovely hamper to get you started. Just bring your bags and we can provide the rest!

(6) Eat local Produce, visit great restaurants and cafes

With full self catering facilities and wheels to get you onto the open road, enjoy some amazing meals; either prepared by yourself or stop off and sample what the local region has to offer.  As well as your route, we can also plan where the best places are to stop off to stretch the legs, to quench your thirst with a local tipple, or to point you towards those hidden restaurant gems, whether it be freshly caught from the sea that very day, Loch Fyne Oyster Bar and Restaurant is a perfect example or a gastro pub. On one of the most fantastic reasons for campervan hire in Scotland are the amazing roads to drive, the Bealach na ba (also known as the “Applecross Pass” and “Pass of the Cattle”) one of the highest points in Scotland, lies the Applecross Inn – Pub of the Year 2020!

Why not visit a Farmers’ Market, local bakery or deli? Stock up on your essentials from a local supermarket or Farm Shop with local reared meat, sausages, and regional cheeses.

We can provide your first shop for you, a luxury hamper, packed with local gourmet delicacies from our local Finzean Farm Shop to get your campervan hire adventure off to a great start!

Cooking is great fun in campervans and quick-cooking – especially with only two rings – can be inventive.  We pack our campervans with a fantastic camper cookbook from our friend Martin Dorey, (with whom we have collaborated on a couple of projects including him having used our own gorgeous classic campervan Hamish VW on the front cover of his book “Take the Slow Road to Scotland“). Think pasta, bolognese, couscous, quiche, and chilli matched with ingredients such as pesto, chorizo and herbs to add some extra zing.  All that fresh air will certainly give you an appetite, pure campervan heaven!

(7) See the sights

Forget hotels, you can stay in/near Major cities/attractions with your own transport. Campervan hire is at a fraction of the cost.

How about the “Castle Trail” to explore (just a few miles away from us resides Her Majesty the Queen at Balmoral Castle, her Scottish holiday home), or the “Victorian Heritage Trail“, and the “Malt Whisky Trail“.  We are based in the perfect location to starburst from!

Go on the search for “Nessie” the infamous Loch Ness Monster, or take a magical train journey and you can also have afternoon tea on the Jacobite Steam Train, most famously known as the “Harry Potter Train” (book early!) Dolphin watching has to be on the top of the “to do” list. Visit the Scottish Dolphin Centre on the Moray Firth or take a boat cruise with Calum’s Seal Trips at Plockton to see dolphins and seals in their natural habitat.

(8) De-stress and Disconnect

Collect your campervan from our premises and we will point you in the right direction of where you want to head off. We give you a full comprehensive handover to ensure you feel familiar and confident with our campervan when leaving our premises to take to the open road. You are welcome to leave your own vehicle with us whilst you are on holiday.

Family campervan hire holiday mountain walking

A campervan holiday gives you the perfect chance to leave the electronic games and gadgets at home and spend quality time with family. Cricket on the beach, board games, being outside in the fresh air, no mobile phone (great! – no signal in remote parts of Scotland) or just to sit with a book and take in the view.

We promise you will return from your campervan hire holiday very chilled out!

(9) Pet Friendly

There are few campervan hire companies in Scotland who accommodate pets. No campervan holiday would be quite the same without your furry family friend to come along too! Murdo T6 VW is our dog friendly campervan. We welcome up to two well behaved dogs. We just have a few house rules and ask that that you please bring your own clean blankets to protect our campervan seats from sharp claws. Please don’t forget to respectfully stick to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and also don’t forget the poo bags!

(10) Create memories

You’ll never forget the year you hired one of our campervans, when you ticked off places you always wanted to see in Scotland, or when you went back to the era of the 80’s and rocked out at The Rewind 80s Music Festival, or at the family friendly Tartan Heart Belladrum Music Festival.  Paddled in the sea and dug sand castles with the kids at Scotlands Best Beaches or visited one of the beautiful Western Isles of Lewis, Harris, Skye or Tobermory on Mull, the famous wee town with its beautiful coloured houses by the sea.  Have a cruise to Fingal’s Cave and the Treshnish Isles from Tobermory Harbour and see seals and puffins. Whether you pick the most remote camping spot, visit a large city, or watch the sun go down behind the waves or mountains, this is your holiday, chosen by you.
